Sing It, Clap It, Move It, Tap It!
Ethnic-Influenced Music and Movement Improvisation for Young Children
Workshop Presenter: Mary Knysh
This workshop is an outgrowth of Mary's work with the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts “Communication Through the Arts” project. Mary will share many of the activities that highlighted her sessions during the past year. Participants will be actively engaged in a wide variety of fun and accessible rhythmic and movement activities designed to enhance creativity and self-expression in the classroom. Many of these songs, rhythmic games and activities are featured in her newly released activity book/CD combination titled “Rhythms All Around”. Participants will learn games, chants and songs from cultures around the world as well as simple tools for inviting young children to create games, songs and dances of their own! An eclectic array of ethnic instruments will be included in addition to tips and ideas for creating instruments with your students.
