We had a wonderful drum circle facilitation course last weekend in Switzerland! The group was terrific and I know these folks will venture out in their communities and bring the joy of drumming to people all over Switzerland! And the scenery and the weather just couldn't have been better!
Music for People in Philly! What an amazing workshop! I even got to bring my sister along for the adventure, what could be better?
We had a wonderful Music for People event this past weekend in Philadelphia. The group was fabulous and the music was pure joy! Join us in August for our weeklong seminar at SUNY in Frdonia, NY - it is sure to bring you great happiness in sound and community! http://musicforpeople.org/wp/events/art-of-improvisation/
Amazing morning of making music with my most favorite drumming mentors! Kofi Donkor and Steve Mitchell- life just keeps getting better and better!
Participants in this workshop stepped into the circle and facilitated wonderful activities! We had a lovely event!
Several years ago, after presenting at the Texas Music Educators Conference in San Antonio, TX, I was invited to present my “Drumming Up a Better Brain! Melodic and Harmonic Drum Circles” session for the Orff-Schulwerk clinic for the Central Texas Orff Chapter.
I loved working with this dynamic, fun and enthusiastic group of talented educators, it was truly a joy!
It was my great honor to be invited back for the third time to present at the Drum Circle Facilitation for Teachers Conference in Tokyo.
This year we released a brand new book authored by myself and three other drum circle facilitators from Japan, titled Drum Circle for Teachers Basics. Here is a picture of the book as well as a few from the conference.
I shared a new session here that featured the relationships and links between drumming and the brain. I am delighted to have already been invited to join this group next summer 2015 for the DCFT conference, which will be held in Okayama in the western part of main island, Japan.
I was invited by Swee Lee Music and Kallang Community Center to go to Singapore and present an “Innovative Drum Circle” Facilitator Training, a community performance and to facilitate a large community drum circle celebrating the culmination of the “Celebration of the Arts Month."
My friend Tom Bay, a drum circle facilitator and incredibly brilliant creative artist, built a 10-foot drum for this occasion. I had envisioned that I would be playing a large hanging 10-foot drum, but when I arrived in Singapore I realized that this giant drum was to be my platform from which to facilitate the community circle!
And along the edge of the huge drum there were 10 large bass drums that were to be played by dignitaries in the government of Singapore! What a memorable event this trip was and what a amazingly warm and loving culture I discovered in Singapore.
